MY PREGNANCY EXPERIENCE
This is my first pregnancy filled with tons of new experiences! Here, I will give you all the details. I will go through each week along my pregnancy and tell you the experience I personally had along with my symptoms! Just keep in mind that all women will experience different symptoms and different pregnancies! There may be symptoms that I felt much earlier or later than you did! So, do not freak out — just know that this is my personal experience and each pregnancy is so unique!
DUE DATE: JANUARY 2ND, 2021
WEEK 1 - 4
OVERVIEW
The first four weeks of pregnancy is not really pregnancy, but it’s counted. The first two weeks you’re not pregnant whatsoever! Ovulation usually occurs around day 14 of your cycle, then fertilization happens. In the last two weeks of the first month, the egg travels through the Fallopian tube to attempt to implant in the wall of your uterus! If it’s a success (only 50% are, on average), then your body will begin to produce the pregnancy hormone HCG close to the end of week 4 of your cycle. This is the hormone that you need enough of to get a BFP (big fat positive)!
SYMPTOMS
I felt some mild cramping (twinges) here and there after time of ovulation/implantation and a little breast soreness right before my period was expected. Nothing major, but definitely noticeable!
BUMP & BABY
I did not have a bump, obviously!
By week 4, baby is the size of a poppy seed!

WEEK 5 - 8
OVERVIEW
Yay! I found out I was pregnant four days into week 5! We had a beautiful, dark pink line and it was the best feeling ever to finally get that BFP! We were over the moon with excitement and just so thankful. During week 6, I went to my OB for the first time to confirm the pregnancy with a urine test. Then, during week 8 is when I had my very first ultrasound! It was so special and heartwarming.
SYMPTOMS
I felt mild breast soreness, tiredness, and major digestive issues these entire four weeks! They aren’t kidding when they say gas, constipation, and diarrhea are symptoms of pregnancy (TMI, I know). In addition, my very annoying nausea decided to tag along in week 8. Literally the same morning as my first ultrasound, I was so nauseous that I threw up right before my appointment! I noticed that with nausea, my sense of smell really went into overdrive during week 8 as well. So let’s just say that first trimester isn’t much fun! Hang on tight.
BUMP & BABY
What’s funny is that during the first few weeks after you find out your pregnant, you feel and look like you have a little bump because of the bloating you’ll experience (thanks, hormones)! So it might’ve looked like I had a bump during week 5 - 8, but it was really just bloating.
By week 8, baby is the size of a raspberry!

WEEK 9 - 12
OVERVIEW
During these weeks, I was just waiting to finish 12 weeks so I can complete my first trimester! Once you’ve reached that mark, the risk of miscarriage goes down significantly! So it’s basically a milestone in your pregnancy.
SYMPTOMS
I still felt the breast soreness, tiredness, and digestive issues. As for nausea, it was basically horrible through week 11 and suddenly, it stopped (thankfully)! When I was nauseous though, I never really threw up. Just the first time in week 8! I would just get this unsettling, sick feeling in the pit of my stomach from the morning until about 4-6 pm. It was so annoying — I couldn't eat much without an appetite, but ginger-ale tended to help me!
BUMP & BABY
I definitely had a tiny bump at week 11 and 12! It was nothing you could see through a loose shirt or sweater, but definitely there when I looked in the mirror!
By week 12, baby is the size of an lime!

WEEK 13 - 16
OVERVIEW
YAY! I’m done with the first trimester! This was an exciting four weeks for me! During week 13, I took the Harmony Prenatal Genetic Testing with gender. This is a test you can take as early as week 10 and you’ll be able to test your baby for risk of genetic disorders (including Down syndrome) and you can find out the gender all through a blood test! So I took the test, thankfully results came back low risk and I later had an intimate gender reveal party to find out I was having a girl in week 15! It was the happiest day of my life!
SYMPTOMS
The only symptom I really experienced at this point was some digestive issues! My energy came back like everyone says it does, my nausea was gone, and I was feeling great! Up until I literally had one straight week of migraines!!! Week 13 was literally the worst week of my life. Every single day, I dealt with a horrifying headache. Then, I began drinking only 2 ounces of coffee in the morning (I didn’t drink any caffeine the whole first trimester) and it stopped my headaches completely! Other than that week of horrible headaches, the rest was smooth sailing.
BUMP & BABY
My bump was definitely growing at a good rate! Each week, I noticed quite a big difference. By week 16, you could definitely notice I was pregnant if you saw me!
By week 16, baby is the size of an avocado! 🥑

WEEK 17 - 20
OVERVIEW
Here, I was now excited to reach 20 weeks and being halfway done with my pregnancy! Man, when they say time flies... They meant it! But the one thing that made these weeks very special was feeling movement for the very first time in week 18!!! It was SO breathtaking and just unforgettable. I noticed it one day, then I just kept feeling it throughout the day and everyday after that at specific times of the day! It’s soooo cool! It’s truly the most empowering feeling! I love it. And finally, once I finished week 20, I announced I was pregnant!
SYMPTOMS
My symptoms were very minor! I had still had some digestive issues and I started getting some lower back pain and leg soreness. I also noticed it was getting uncomfortable sleeping at night (but my pregnancy pillow does wonders)! At this point, my size changed so much to the point it was physically making me sore and uncomfortable!
BELLY & BABY
Okay, no one told me that leading up to 20 weeks pregnant that your belly would super grow! The way I looked and felt changed dramatically, especially by week 18-20! There is no way of hiding that belly now!
By week 20, baby is the size of a banana! 🍌

WEEK 21 - 30
OVERVIEW
I know this is a huge 10 week gap I am covering! I was super busy in the last two months, but I plan to document weekly from here on out! In the last 10 weeks, I’ve gotten A LOT bigger and pregnancy had become REAL!
SYMPTOMS
So as usual, I continued having digestive issues a few times each week, which is pretty normal during pregnancy (thanks to hormones). In addition to that, a new symptom has welcomed itself! HEARTBURN! Thankfully, it’s not dramatic yet. Hopefully it doesn’t worsen. I started feeling mild heartburn only on a few different occasions from week 28! It’s soooo uncomfortable! I never experienced it before. I also think I’m experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions in weeks 28-30 as well! I’m just unsure because I’ve never felt them before so it’s hard to tell. But I do get random cramping in my belly at times with tightening! Nothing major, though. Cravings are definitely in full swing! I want a delicious sweet dessert everyday!!! Lol and I can eat like a monster lately. It definitely started getting dramatically harder to feel normal in weeks 27-30. It’s harder to move, harder to bend down, and harder to catch my breath. Back pain is also intensifying!
BELLY & BABY
The last time I updated, babe was the size of a banana! She’s grown A LOT more since! And so has my belly. 🤭 People thought I was carrying twins at week 29, LOL. But as of week 30, baby is roughly 15.7 inches long from head to toe! Just curled up in a ball, that is. 🥰
TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN
25 lb
That means I gained 13 pounds in these 10 weeks! YIKES!

WEEK 31
OVERVIEW
First of all, once I hit the 30s, it felt like things are getting SO real!!!! I can literally have her within the next 7 weeks and that’s making me feel SUPER anxious! I’ve been experiencing more anxiety thinking about birth and all the things I still have to get done and shop for. But overall, things are getting more dramatic as each week passes. I experienced baby hiccups this week! And once I noticed them the first time, I kept noticing it a few times a day! It feels exactly like a pulse and usually happens for about 15-20 minutes. It’s so weird and cute! I was originally concerned about how many hiccups she was having and she would move SOOO much while she had them. But my doctors reassured me it’s normal and actually helps them build their lungs to prepare for the outside world!
SYMPTOMS
In week 31, I experienced a lot of digestive issues (I can’t wait to have my normal digestive system after birth!). I had a little heartburn and I think Braxton Hicks contractions. Back pain is definitely starting to get real! And there are a few nights of the week where I’m having trouble sleeping. It’s just getting super uncomfortable around here!
BELLY & BABY
Baby is 16.1 inches long! My belly is huge and beginning to be itchy from stretching. I actually started getting mild stretch marks this week high is exciting! 😭 And I feel like my belly is starting to drop a little bit. My doctor said my belly can drop anytime in the third trimester! And it makes sense because in my recent ultrasound, that girl was head down and her head was SUPER low! She’s just been chillin’ like a bat hanging upside down since my anatomy scan! I pray she stays that way. 🤲🏼💗
TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN
27 lb
I gained 2 pounds this week! But for week 29 and 30 I was the same weight! So that’s okay. 😌 I should gain a pound each week until delivery!
MY MENTAL HEALTH
I decided to add a mental health portion to my weekly updates because it’s honestly so important and especially during and after pregnancy! In my recent weeks, I’ve been quite stressed out from a few different things, so I felt that took a toll on my body. I found myself getting more tired and especially more emotional... Mood swings are definitely happening more often and it’s not fun! There were days in the past few weeks where I was super down and just sad. I didn’t want to do anything besides lay on my couch and be sad. I also think that now I’m heading towards the finish line, I’m getting more anxious about delivery and what it’ll be like when she is here, iA. I’m trying my best to keep my stress levels down, because stress is not good for me or my baby. So my goal for next week is to limit my stress and find ways to make myself happier iA!

WEEK 32
OVERVIEW
Yay!! I completed 8 months!! I’m off to the scary 9th month! 😬 I don’t know how to feel, lol! Anyway, this week wasn’t so bad with symptoms as it was with physical body pain! Oh boy, let me tell ya.
SYMPTOMS
This week I’m experiencing major body pains! And everywhere! From my entire back to my legs, from my pelvic floor to my belly. My neck, my shoulders, you name it! Everything is sore and stiff. I’m starting to think I’m going to be more sore from the way I’ll be positioned while giving birth than the actual process. My body is too sore to move in the smallest ways... So I think I have to start doing some safe pregnancy stretches to prevent pulled muscles! LOL! I’ve been also experiencing a lot of pelvic pressure. I noticed my belly dropped (I think), so it’s putting a lot more pressure on my pelvis. My entire pelvis and groin area are soooo sore. And because my belly dropped, I’m officially walking like a penguin! 🐧😩 In addition to all this, I think I’m getting Braxton Hicks contractions. I get random tightening and cramps in my lower belly and on the sides, but it’s not severe and doesn’t last long. And lastly, I’ve been having trouble sleeping more often! I’m getting up to pee in the middle of the night 2-3 times which is always fun. 🙂
BELLY & BABY
My belly dropped it like it’s hot! It’s definitely lower, causing me to waddle. 🐧 It’s growing by the day — at least that’s what it feels like! Literally nothing fits me anymore. It’s SO hard to switch sleeping positions and to get up from laying down. Baby is 16.6 inches and 3.75 pounds! She is getting there. 😬🙌🏼
TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN
29 lb 🥴
MY MENTAL HEALTH
Not considering a couple bad days this past week, I’ve felt a little less stressed. But I do find myself more anxious and nervous since I’m thinking more about labor as I approach it. I’m really nervous and just don’t know what to expect! I’m an Aries! I like control over things! I hate that I don’t know how things are going to go down and that I don’t have control over what’s going to happen during my birth. But I pray to God it goes well! I’m also overwhelmed with the amount of things my husband and I still have to get done in the nursery. My plan is to finish it completely in November! Hopefully we will get a couple days this upcoming week to finish things up. 🤞🏼

WEEK 33
OVERVIEW
Let’s just say this week was quite the rollercoaster ride! So many different symptoms — some that made a horrifying reappearance from early on! 😭 And some strange, new symptoms I never even knew happen!
SYMPTOMS
So this week, pregnancy decided to spice things up a bit for me. It gave me some of the old symptoms, some new symptoms, and some annoying symptoms! Where do I begin?! For starters, my indigestion came back (yay!). Definitely having bathroom issues that are not the most comfortable. I also experienced some pulse cramping pain on the sides of my lower belly, but my OB said it could be simple muscles. I’ve experienced some headaches, a little more acid reflux (especially while laying down at night), and my belly is starting to be itchy from stretching! I definitely had more back pain this week. And one major new thing is that I definitely have sciatica! My left butt cheek and thigh have been in the worst pain most days, especially after standing on my feet for long periods of time! But I noticed my birthing ball helps relieve the pain, thankfully (it’s linked on my amazon page). In addition, I most definitely know I’m getting Braxton Hicks contractions! I finally figured out how they feel like! And I get them all the time! Like throughout the day, several times a day! It’s an overall tightening feeling of my stomach. It’s not in a specific spot — it’s the entire stomach that tightens and you can even feel your belly be super tight! So that’s been happening way more often. I’m also peeing soooo much more! It’s insane. A new, weird symptom that made its debut this week is random numbing of my fingers! It was so so weird. I kept noticing it throughout the day... My thumb, index finger, and middle finger on my right hand just get that numb, tingly feeling multiple times throughout the day. And when I searched it, it’s apparently common in the third trimester! So weird! And lastly, one lovely symptom decided to make a comeback this week... NAUSEA. Seriously?! I thought I was done with this one!! I literally JUST found out from my OB a few days ago that some women experience it in the third trimester due to wacky hormones again... And what do you know! A few times this week I found myself nauseous. It’s really on and off... It comes at random times and doesn’t stay the entire time like it did in the first trimester. But either way, nausea, you are not welcome here!!!!!!! 😩
BELLY & BABY
My belly is basically dancing to the song, “HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?! HOW LOW CAN YOU GO!?” Because this girl is dropping more and more! I really feel like I’m going to deliver week 37/38. Idk! But she’s super low and my belly is getting huge. It’s starting to get itchy from all the stretching.. But my belly butter is helping relieve that, thankfully (that’s also linked on my amazon page)! Speaking of stretching — stretch marks are apparently a normal thing for me now. I’m noticing more stretch marks underneath my bump and on my sides — how sexy! 😫 I can’t wait until they fade after birth. 🤞🏼Baby is 17.2 inches and 4.19 pounds this week! It’s so crazy to think how long she is and she’s curled up in my belly. 😳
TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN
30
*My goal is to not pass 35 pounds gained... I have possibly 7 weeks left of pregnancy (at most), which means I would probably gain 37 pounds total, at the very least. But I really don’t think I’ll make it to week 40... I’m not sure!
MY MENTAL HEALTH
This week my husband and I got a lot of things done in the nursery in terms of organizing, cleaning up, and finishing our shopping list! We even began moving his closet into mine. So we were very productive, which helps me feel less overwhelmed and less stressed! Other than that, I think I’ve just been feeling more anxious about labor. I went to the hospital I’m delivering at and got to see one of the delivery rooms & I felt so many emotions — mostly nervous and anxious ones. I almost felt like I wouldn’t be able to do this. But I hope that I’m able to be more positive and strong when it comes down to it! Just super nervous about it all. And then I am getting frustrated and overwhelmed now that it’s harder for me to keep up with the house, laundry, and dishes... My body is getting really tired and I feel like I’m going to drown soon with housework. But thankfully, my husband helps me when I need it. It’s just a tough job! But hopefully I’ll find the energy this week to get through some chores. Definitely need more time to relax and just get my head on straight before I jump into cleaning. But that’s all for week 33! It was actually a ton, lol! But hopefully week 34 is better — probably not 🥴, but we’ll see where life takes me next week! 🤞🏼

WEEK 34
OVERVIEW
Here’s to yet another week of life getting so much harder! This week felt like there were more bad days than good, but all I can say is alhamdulillah! All I know is that I cannot wait until I feel my normal self again.
SYMPTOMS
Of course, I’ve had horrible aches and pains all over my body, feeling even more like a 90 year old women with hip and knee replacements! My mornings are becoming worse and worse. I seriously cannot get out of bed anymore without dreading it and without being in a ton of pain. It’s even hard to lift myself up with my hands because even my hands are killing me! Speaking of hands... I have pregnancy carpal tunnel! 😭 My doctor told me that’s why my hands and fingers are feeling numb and tingly. I’m noticing it gets worse everyday, mostly in the morning and night. Earlier in the week I had some very weird jaw and neck pain on the left side... Not sure what that was from, but luckily it went away. I experienced some nausea this week — there was a day or two where I just did not feel well at all! And on those days I had some pretty harsh heartburn to add onto that as well. It was not fun. My sciatica wasn’t too triggered this week except for a day or two, so I’m thankful for that. And lastly, I honestly have been just tired. I’m pretty sure I took at least three naps this week. I’m overall exhausted and honestly I’m at the point where I can’t really do much anymore. It’s so hard to put on pants, bend down to pick things up, to freaking use the bathroom, to even sleep comfortably! I cannot sleep comfortably anymore for the life of me! When I’m asleep, I’m good. But when I make my three trips to the bathroom in the night, I am so uncomfortable and can’t fall asleep for some time. It sucks. Btw, I pee a million times a day because how much she’s pushing against my bladder — I’m going crazy!! I’m feeling more heavy by the day and honestly it’s just starting to suck, to say the least. I cannot wait until she’s here, inshallah. I’m getting weak!!!!!!
BELLY & BABY
You guys would be shocked if you saw how huge I am. My friends and family tell me they never imagined me to be this big, but alhamdulillah it’s all belly (THANK GOD). My belly is dropping lower than ever — literally touching my thighs when I stand. I’m pretty sure she’s going to make her debut sooner than we think! Stretch marks are steady as of now. Baby girl is 17.7 inches long and around 4.63 pounds! But really, she feels like 30 pounds already!!!

MY MENTAL HEALTH
I would say my mental health is overall fine this week. We got a lot more done in the nursery, so that made me feel good. We finished buying literally everything! So I’m happy about that. This week, we just have to do some last few things in her room. Then, I’ll pack our hospital bags! I feel caught up with all that, so it definitely lowers my anxiety levels!!! I had a couple bad days this week where I was so unmotivated and down — I didn’t want to do anything and I was just sad for some reason... Other than that, I felt pretty good this week overall. I just think all the physical pain and symptoms are bringing me down here and there and it’s making me feel like I can’t do it anymore! I even wonder how can I handle giving birth if I can’t even handle getting out of bed without wanting to cry? Ugh. I’m so nervous whenever I think of birth!!! I just want it to go smoothly inshAllah. Happy thoughts, Sabreen. Happy thoughts!

WEEK 35
OVERVIEW
Overall, this week has been extremely hard! I’m realizing that it’s just going to get harder and harder from here on out. Everyone always says the last month or so of pregnancy is truly tiring and pretty much horrible, and I now see why everyone says that!
SYMPTOMS
Where do I begin? My sciatica has hit me good a couple times this week, but I noticed on my days off that it’s not triggered much! Luckily, I’m done with all of my cake orders, so that’ll give me the chance to rest more. My carpal tunnel is honestly at its worst this week! It gets so bad in the night, while I’m sleeping especially, to the point I can’t use my hands to lift myself up to go to the bathroom! I have to literally wake my husband up now to pull me up. It’s way too hard! My body feels so so heavy, it’s insane! With that being said, sleep is getting harder by the day. I can fall asleep fine, it’s just staying asleep and staying comfortable in the middle of the night that seems more impossible everyday. It’s like sleeping makes your body feel worse, since all that weight is being pulled down on you! And a few nights this week I had to finish my sleep on the couch because I couldn’t get comfortable again after a bathroom run! I literally hate bedtime now. On top of all that, my back and knee pain is getting insanely bad and so is the pelvic pressure. When I get out of bed in the morning, I literally feel my pelvis cracking and moving. The first 20 minutes after waking up is when my body feels the worst! I started swelling in my ankles and legs this week — it’s not the prettiest sight. 🥴 And the bottom of my heels have been killing!!! I’ve also been having some major digestive issues along with some loss of appetite and nausea. It’s just overall not fun over here! 😩
BELLY & BABY
My belly is getting larger by the second and feels like 50,000 pounds! I can barely move from side to side in bed from how heavy I feel! Baby is 18.1 inches and 5.07 pounds! And apparently the size of a pineapple! 🍍

MY MENTAL HEALTH
This week I was pretty good mentally, I just had a couple days where I felt down and didn’t want to do much. I felt anxious and paranoid at times, not sure why. But it happens! I’m feeling better about the whole nursery, we got a few more things done. I’m getting more nervous about delivery and postpartum everyday, just wondering how it’ll all go and how it’ll go even having a baby! I have zero experience with babies, so it’s going to be a whole new world! I’m just trying to think positively and learn a lot by reading & making myself feel more mentally prepared. 🤞🏼

WEEK 36
OVERVIEW
This week is just yet another week of getting worse and being in more pain. I seriously cannot wait until this is over!
SYMPTOMS
I would say I’m basically dealing with it all right now. My sciatica gets so bad when I sit down for longer than 10 minutes — I can barely walk on my left foot after I get up from sitting, especially in the morning. My carpal tunnel in the morning and night are crucial. My fingers look like sausages and my feet are definitely swollen. I’ve been getting lots of back pain and it’s sporadic too, so sometimes I get nervous that it’s back labor but I’m not sure. Sleep is the worst thing in the world and honestly, sitting down in general usually sucks because everything is uncomfortable. My knees feel broken. My pelvic bone cracks almost 20 times a day. Horrible bathroom issues, the worst kind. And apparently that’s a sign of labor soon. Everything basically just hurts and my stomach is itching SO much. I really, truly, genuinely cannot wait until I have this baby and eventually be comfortable again whenever recovery allows me to be. It’s just become too much. Oh and the last day of my 36th week, I think I either pulled a muscle in my right butt cheek or it was sciatica.. I’m not joking when I say this — I seriously could not walk on my right leg without feeling like I was going to fall to the floor. Moving my right leg a half inch would put me in a shocking pain! LIKE WHAT THE HELL!!!! Luckily, it went away by morning.
BELLY & BABY
My belly is gigantic and itchy — I can’t even fit in anything that doesn’t make my belly pop out at the bottom. I feel like she gets lower every day! I’m seeing more stretch marks and it feels so so heavy! I definitely feel like she’s going to be a heavy baby! Currently, baby is around 18.7 inches and about 5.8 pounds. And apparently, her liver, kidneys, circulation, and immune systems are in working order! She’s basically ready to go any week now!!!! She’s just beefing up and getting ready to be a chubster.

MY MENTAL HEALTH
Honestly, this week wasn’t the greatest. Not being able to ever be comfortable has been really taking a toll on me. Sleep is now something I hate. I’m really just down a lot of the time because how much pain my body is in. I also wasn’t in the greatest of moods this week — I barely wanted to be on my phone or social media. A couple things were so frustrating in the nursery, including the fact that we basically broke our crib by stripping the screws and had to buy a new one. So that doesn’t even come in until mid December. It put us back and makes me feel so anxious because I’m the type I need everything complete and perfect before anything. It’s so annoying! I don’t even know if it’ll be here before she’s born... Even though she’ll be in the bassinet, I still wanted it to be complete. But we did get some things done that needed to be done, so that’s good. I honestly am not even feeling that nervous or anxious about labor that much anymore. I think I’m going through so much crap right now to the point I would rather just go into labor and go through it all instead of dealing with all this crap. So I’m more excited for it to come rather than scared! I really just want to be done at this point. 😭 And honestly, I just keep looking forward to the point where I get to exercise after baby. I AM GOING TO GO SO HARD THAT MY BODY WILL BE IN EVEN BETTER SHAPE THAN BEFORE!!!! COUNT ON THAT! 😡

WEEK 37
OVERVIEW
I made it! I'm officially considered full-term! This is a huge milestone and I'm so thankful. Baby girl can be born any day now and be totally ready to go! She's just gaining weight in the next few weeks and she'll decide to make her appearance whenever she's ready... And if she's anything like me, then she'll arrive late! LOL. This week was much harder than the last week and I am 100% okay with popping as soon as possible. I'm completely over being pregnant and I'm so fed up with all my symptoms! This week, I realized why I'm having so much back and pelvic pain, which I'll explain below!
SYMPTOMS
This week, my back, pelvic, and tailbone pain is ridiculous. It's so hard for me to walk in the morning and after sitting down for more than 5 minutes. This probably means she's getting lower and lower and applying a lot of pressure! The reason why I've been experiencing so much back, pelvic, and tailbone pain in the last few weeks is because the way baby girl is positioned. She's facedown, thankfully... But she's facing the wrong way! She's been chillin' in what people call the "sunny-side up" position. This means that she's facing my belly button instead of facing my spine, which she's supposed to be facing in order to give her MOTHER A SMOOTHER LABOR AND DELIVERY! But nooooo... This girl wants to already do the opposite of what she's supposed to do (sounding more like me). Apparently, most babies will end up turning the correct way by the time birth comes, so I'm praying that's the case for me. Otherwise, shit is about to get REAL hard... Anyway! My pregnancy carpal tunnel is at it's finest! I can barely move my fingers in the middle of the night or once I wake up and they generally feel pretty weak throughout the day now. This week, I actually started experiencing some cramping from time to time... It's like a random cramp that I'll get on the lower sides of my belly. They're not strong nor do they last long, but I'm definitely getting them often. I'm experiencing a lot more Braxton hicks contractions! But these are definitely different... Sometimes, they get much stronger to the point I wonder if it's possibly a real contraction, but then it just goes back to being sporadic. My belly will tighten so much and while that happens, I'll feel a general cramp on my lower abdomen while my lower back is hurting as well... It's definitely increasing in frequency and intensity, but they're still sporadic and definitely not the real deal quite yet. My knees officially feel like they're broken. There's so much weight putting pressure on them, so they're just dying basically. I've been a lot more tired this week and taking frequent naps, which is nice! I had some swelling in my hands and feet here and there from nesting, but it went down. I had a couple headaches this week, probably from all the hormone craziness (or from all the sugar I've been inhaling). And one last thing, I'm definitely breaking out!!!!!! Which I hate with a passion. All these damn hormones need to chill out and leave me alone!
BELLY & BABY
Don't even get me started on my huge ass belly. It's getting bigger by the day and I see new stretch marks everyday! It's weird though, I have more stretch marks on the right side of my belly trailing to my back but barely any on my left side. Maybe they want to give me a warm welcome in week 38, who knows! My belly is definitely itchy and just so so heavy. I'm so convinced she's going to come out looking 30 pounds, but it could just be that I carry a lot of fluid, so who the hell knows until she pops out of me. Baby girl can currently be up to 20.9 inches long and up to 9.2 pounds! And gaining about 1/2 ounce each day (I can feel it). She's practicing some cool, new skills like inhaling, exhaling, sucking, gripping, and blinking!

MY MENTAL HEALTH
This week, there were a lot of ups and downs. Starting with the downs... I had a few days where I was just literally down. I felt so much sadness and anxiety. It was the kind that I had no idea where it was even coming from! I couldn't figure out why I felt that way and why I felt so much anxiety in my chest. One night, I literally was having trouble catching my breath for a good hour simply because the anxiety I was feeling. It may have been a mixture of things that were on my mind... But I couldn't pinpoint it. I guess I've been thinking a lot more about how much life is about to change in the next three weeks and it scares me. I'm not really nervous or anxious about labor and delivery (at least not yet) - I'm more anxious when I think about this huge change coming and not knowing when it will come. One chapter is closing very soon and another is opening that I have no idea what to expect or what to do. I'm trying to learn as much as I can and I know I'll have so much support (thankfully), but I feel like no matter what, I won't be actually mentally ready and that gives me anxiety! For the ups... I got a lot done this week! I finally felt the need to nest and literally cleaned and organized every square inch of my house. I got a lot of organizing done in the nursery and guess what! My new crib came in a whole week early! So that was awesome. My bassinet came in as well this week, so we officially have everything that we need! We just have to put them together along with her swing and baby cam and we're all good to go! Getting a lot of things done in the house definitely relieved some of the anxiety I was feeling and helped me feel more prepared in a sense. I just keep thinking about how crazy it is that I'm going to meet my daughter within the next three weeks, inshAllah. It's mind-blowing to me and I still feel shocked that I'm even having a baby, let alone my little girl. After such a long and emotional journey, it feels surreal that it's almost time to meet who we wanted for so long. Alhamdulillah. Just feeling so thankful, even among all the annoying symptoms and emotions! Just deeply thankful, happy, and full of excitement! Let's see if there's a week 38 update! Who knows! LOL.

Who knows! LOL.
WEEK 38
OVERVIEW
This week was a little better than the last few weeks! Although I’m still experiencing some challenging symptoms, I would say it was a better week overall. I can’t believe I’m only two weeks away from my due date! It feels like time flew by within the blink of an eye! I went to my doctor’s appointment this past Wednesday and I was 1 cm dilated! But I decided I’m not going to check anymore because it’s just way too painful and uncomfortable!! 🥴
SYMPTOMS
This week my symptoms weren’t dramatic, thankfully. Don’t get me wrong — I’m still experiencing back pain, pelvic pressure, and knee pain. But there wasn’t much else... My carpal tunnel was pretty calm this week and my swelling isn’t so bad. I did have some bathroom issues, but that just happens at the end of pregnancy! I found a way to be a little more comfortable while sleeping, so I’ve been getting more sleep which I’m so happy about! Plus, I got my prenatal massage this week and I feel like that helped my body relax! So my body isn’t killing as much anymore. I’m really just ready to go! I’m waiting on the day labor slaps me in the face. Lol.
BELLY & BABY
My belly is lower than ever! It’s so weird. I have so many stretch marks and it annoys me! But whatever. My belly was getting red here and there for some reason, but it went away. It’s also still itchy from all the stretching! Baby is up to 20.9 inches and up to 9.2 lbs still! She feels like she’s 10 pounds so we will see how big she is!
TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN
I stopped checking at this point, LOL. It just bothers me and I don’t want to keep seeing the scale grow even though I know it’s mainly because the baby and all. It just reminds me of the tough work I’m going to have to put in once I start working out again, but I’m looking forward to it!
MENTAL HEALTH
This week was pretty good for the most part. There were a couple days where I felt anxious and down, but that’s pretty normal to feel in the third trimester. I just think there are days where I’m home alone all day and have so much time to myself to the point where my thoughts get to me and it just gives me anxiety. Other than that, I had a pretty good week! Our nursery is all done — we put up our new crib! We have our bassinet and baby can set up along with our swing! Things are all ready to go and we’re just waiting for our baby girl to arrive, inshAllah! I’m so excited for the day to come where I go into labor. I’m not nervous or anxious for it, I think I’m just curious about how it’s going to go. I do wonder if I’ll be able to handle contractions before epidural, but I’ll just plan to get the epidural once I feel like I don’t want to deal with this, lol! I just hope it goes smoothly, that’s all. Overall, this week went well and I’m hoping my last two weeks (more or less) go well, too!

WEEK 39
OVERVIEW
This week has been a whirlwind. Although my symptoms are suddenly manageable, a few stressful things happened this week that is not making the end of my pregnancy any easier. I’m in complete shock that I’m going into week 40, expecting her any day now, but everything just seems all over the place, which I’ll explain why later.
SYMPTOMS
My symptoms this week were very manageable, shockingly. I don’t know why! But I was filled with energy, I was staying up late and hanging out, my body wasn’t in so much pain, and all my symptoms seem to be just dying down slowly. I would say the only thing is my pelvic pressure and lower back pain along with some bathroom issues, which all come along while leading to labor. But I’m suddenly feeling good! Even sleep isn’t so bad anymore. Even though I go to the bathroom at least three times a night, sleeping comfortably doesn’t seem to be an issue lately — it’s so weird! But I won’t complain. 💁🏻♀️
BELLY & BABY
My belly is pretty much the same at this point — huge and low. I think I’ve maxed out the amount of stretch marks I’ll get this pregnancy, LOL! It’s okay, though. They’ll fade in color after baby is here and I can deal with some tiger stripes when I eventually tone my stomach again. Baby girl is the size of a PUMPKIN 🎃 and measuring at around 6.2-9.2 pounds (pretty sure she’s like 10 lbs) and 18.9-20.9 inches! I wonder what her measurements will all be when I get to meet baby girl! Ahhhhh, so weird!!!
MENTAL HEALTH
Oh man, this week went downhill from the start. I’ll first mention that I found out my cousin, Laila, passed away this past Sunday morning (Allah yerhama). My family is was so scared to tell me because they didn’t want to stress me out at this point in my pregnancy — but I found out through my friend asking if what had happened to Laila was true. When I saw the news, my entire world had flipped upside down and my heart shattered. I couldn’t believe my eyes, I lost my breath, and began screaming and crying while holding onto my couch. My cousin was only 36 years old — she was like another older sister to me. I was, and still am, in complete shock. It’s like my brain is refusing to believe what had happened and is pretending I just haven’t seen or talked to her in a while. That really caused me to have a very stressful week, but now that it’s been a week, I do feel a little better and accepting of what had happened. When it’s time, it’s time. I cannot question Allah’s (swt) timing because He is the best of planners. Laila, I love you and I miss you. You’ll forever be in my heart. Your contagious laugh will forever be in the back of my mind. Our memories will forever be stored in my soul. You deserved so much more in this life. I pray that Allah swt blesses you with His mercy, blessings, and grants you the highest level of heaven. Rest easy, sweet Laila. 💔
That only started my week 39... A lot more happened which caused a ton of more stress. As of right now, the timing is sensitive to share, but I will share what is happening soon. All in all, my mental health is not at its best. I’m doing better and trying to stay positive as each day passes, but it gets hard sometimes. I’m doing the best that I can. I just hate how much is happening in just a week before I’m supposed to meet my little girl, iA. It’s supposed to be such an exciting time and filled with happiness and joy. But it’s not even what I’m thinking about, sadly. I just hope I make it to week 40 and that I’ll even be a few days late for reasons I’ll explain later. If you’re reading this, I just ask that you pray for things to be better for me right now and that everything will turn out to be alright — that’s all I need from you all. Thank you so much. 💕

✨WEEK 40✨
OVERVIEW
I MADE IT! Thankfully, I made it all the way to 40 weeks. Although before I said that I wouldn’t have minded if she came early, I am happy she decided to bake for the full 40 weeks (probably bc my symptoms lightened up 😂). However, my last week of my pregnancy was by far the most complicated week of it all (Covid, ER)! A lot happened and it was just filled with anxiety and stress, which I’ll talk about! Let’s just say I am glad she decided to wait around for some time.
SYMPTOMS
This week, my symptoms were not too bad, but I did experience quite a lot! I felt better than I did in weeks 30-38, oddly enough. I’ve obviously been super uncomfortable, but mainly when I’m getting in and out of bed or when I first wake up in the morning. There was one night where I truly couldn’t walk from the pain because the way baby girl was positioned! I had the sniffles this week and a little nausea here and there, but I wouldn’t really count it. I had bathroom issues that signal labor is “coming!” At least I hope it is. 🤞🏼 I honestly had a ton of energy this week and was nesting as much as I could in the last two days! I’m experiencing lighting crotch ⚡️🥴 which is SO uncomfortable and painful. Literally feels like a lightning strike, lol! I’m also experiencing some contractions, but they’re not painful and they're pretty random. However, one night I actually thought I was going into labor! I was having very consistent contractions that ended up being like 4 minutes apart even! It was so consistent for like an hour — I was shocked! But they weren’t really painful... So I called my doctor and she said if it was the real thing I would experience at least some discomfort and I wouldn’t be able to sleep through them. So I went to bed and was able to sleep as normal! Meaning, it was false labor. 🙄 And then one other thing happened where I ended up rushing to the emergency room! I randomly noticed that my right foot and leg was more swollen than my left. Not only that, I felt so much pressure, too! It felt like I was literally losing circulation in my right foot and calf. So, my doctor said to go to the ER for an ultrasound on my leg to ensure it’s not a blood clot (they’re more common in pregnant women and can be dangerous). I went into the ER to get all checked and thankfully it wasn’t a blood clot and most likely they baby just sitting on certain nerves that is causing more swelling and that pressure feeling in the right side. I was so thankful!
BELLY & BABY
My belly is at its lowest and biggest! I’m starting to get little red marks above my belly button that almost look like tiny cuts (I think from how much my skin has stretched). It’s itchy here and there, but I try not to scratch it. Baby girl has been making me uncomfortable a lot lately since she’s kicking and screaming! And sitting her fat ass on nerves that are causing some discomfort. 🥴😡 I believe she is still sunny side up 🍳... She just really wants to give mama a hard time I see! 🙃 Baby girl is as big as a damn watermelon!!!! 🍉 Omg and my doctor told me I’m measuring a little big at my last appointment — she said she could be 8.5-9 pounds! So may God help me if that’s true! The more she bakes in there, the heavier she’ll be! 😩
MENTAL HEALTH
This week, life was super complicated! I was exposed to Covid-19 from someone close to me. Not only was I super worried about this person, I was also worried that my baby girl would be born before they were no longer contagious. And on top of it all, I was super anxious and stressed out that I caught it from them because I was around them, as normal, days leading up to their first symptom. I literally got tested three times, a few days apart, just to make sure I did not catch it and thankfully I was negative all three times. I had so much anxiety waiting for those results! I was so shocked I didn’t get it from them! But alhamdulillah, I am so happy God protected me. I’m just thankful that this person was able to recover and no longer be contagious before our baby girl is born... Every day we were hoping she would wait another day. I even stopped eating dates, drinking raspberry leaf tea, and stopped being active just so I can attempt to stall her arrival! Alhamdulillah, now that this person is fully recovered, I am thankful and back to trying to get this baby out of me! All I know is that this week was extremely stressful and filled with anxiety, but I’m so glad it’s over inshallah. Alhamdulillah for everything! Now, we are all officially ready for you, baby S! 💗
